I finished these 3 pieces into pin cushions.  The heart one is for a friend.  The Thank-You note is for a wonderful new friend who helped us ease into the crazy world of Medicare.  Without Stephanie’s help we would still be staring at supplement offers! The Snow Happy is from the new JCS ornie issue.  He’s one of the very VERY few I like in there this year.  Thanks for looking 🙂

Sharon made me this precious kitty and added 3 pins from her great-aunt’s treasures 🙂 This is My Favorite Kitten by primitivebettys.  The backing fabric is from Darlene.  Thanks soooo much, gfs!! 🙂

The next things are from Deborah who is now hooked on thrift stores partly due to me LOL  She has given me a few additions to my “Rescued Needlework” project and to my frame stash 🙂  These items are not only from different stores, but from several states!  Thanks soooo much, Deborah 🙂

Saturday was my 63rd birthday.  Yes, I said it LOL LOL  I told my husband I wanted to eat lunch at Red Lobster and then go to the largest antique mall in Texas, which is in Houston.  We had soooo much fun eating and shopping!  This antique mall is pretty pricey, but we managed to find a few reasonable things I couldn’t live without LOL

The brown thing is a carved eagle – we collect all different carvings like this.  Behind the eagle you can sort of see two acorn shaped crystal items that are really salt and pepper shakers.  They  are very heavy and just beautiful in person.  To the right is an old plastic box with a basket on it and it’s full of buttons and odds and ends.  In front of the button box is a lady holding a flower and the center of the flower is a pin cushion.  I collect vintage pin cushions.  Over to the left is a Precious Moments trinket box.  I love PM 🙂   All these things are on top of a hand-embroidered Laundry bag.  It doesn’t appear old, but very pretty just the same.  We also got a bag of gold charms that are sunshine shaped each with a face.  Our daughter makes jewelry and she knows how to make things look vintage as you will see in the next picture.

The round necklace with the beautiful bird picture was  from my daughter for Mother’s Day and she found it in a unique shop.  The necklace with the mask – which I call “grungy”  LOL is what she made me for my birthday.  She put everything together and it’s wonderful in person.  I love both necklaces, but the one she made for me is really special 🙂

Before my husband and I left to eat out and shop, he gave me a beautiful card and this gorgeous yellow red-tipped rose plant.   It can be kept in the house so maybe I can keep it alive! 🙂

This hilarious card and Ghirardelli candy are from Sharon and Darlene.  Those girls know me well giving me DARK chocolate with RASPBERRY.   I’m NOT sharing  LOL LOL  We 3 did share a mini-birthday cake when they were down here last week.  Eating cake with girlfriends – PRICELESS!!!!!

These are from another xs friend, Jane 🙂  She sent a nice card, a beautiful xs piece she made and a great tin full of Russell Stover candies!!  She always comes up with the best tins – I think I’ve mentioned before I’m a tin-freak LOL LOL  I love anything patriotic and this xs fits right into my collection 🙂

I don’t know what I did to deserve all the wonderful things Anita sent me, but I LOVE everything.  I see some thread got over the colorful scissors she sent, but they are just below the short fat pair that is soooo cute!   Some of the threads are Carrie’s Threads and the others are Gentle Arts.  These colors are sooooo pretty and I want to start using them soon.   The needles will come in handy as I tend to bend and break needles!  Don’t ask LOL LOL  The Just Pins sets are adorable!  They will be fun to use.   She made me the beautiful heart-shaped xs using a design I love, but never have xs’ed yet.  She finished it into a floss keep.  I love that type finish and need to get back to making them again.   All these things are on a pink and clear plastic bag with zipper and 3 holes so you can put it in a binder!   Now how neat is that!

The friendship alone of all my xs buds means soooo much to me.  Thanks to family and friends for making this a great – old – but,  great birthday LOL LOL  Love you all!   P.S. Pictures are clickable for closer-ups 🙂

This cutie is Angel in My Pocket by Deborah at Midsummer Night Designs and she designed it for a fundraiser for a friend.  I xs’ed this angel in green and sent it and backing fabric to Sharon who sewed it into this beautiful “doll”.    She presented it to our wonderful friend, Darlene, as a loving gift from both of us.  Darlene, we hope you love her 🙂  If you want to check out this chart, please visit here:  http://stitchingandscribbling.blogspot.com/   Thanks for looking 🙂

Today I received a beautiful mailart envelope from Hilal Barutcu from Turkiye.  She did mail it in a brown envelope instead of “pure”, but had it stamped before that.  She added a little note inside and a skein of thread.  This is part of the Lizzie Kate mailart theme.  Thanks for looking 🙂  JUNE 2011 UPDATE:  She asked to have her address covered up after all this time and I’m not sure how to do that so I just deleted the whole picture.

I am in a xs mailart yahoo group and we exchange xs envelopes with different themes.  This theme is Lizzie Kate, a designer who is one of my favorites.  My envelope has been received by Taffy in Missouri so I can now show the pictures.  When I receive the envelope for me I will show pictures of it, too.  This envelope goes thru the mail “pure” or as is, with NO covering at all.  Ladies all over the world participate in these exchanges and it’s amazing the trips many of the envelopes go on.  Thanks for looking. 🙂  I put a TEXAS magnet and a tiny xs kit inside my envelope for Taffy.

I haven’t been posting lately and will attempt to catch up some.  I won’t go all thru Thanksgiving and Christmas, but just add a few things I’ve recently acquired.  Thanks for checking out my update 🙂

This is our bedroom with some new wall decor.  The beautiful picture in the middle with the carved “P” was given to us by my niece and family for Christmas and we sort of decorated around it with the cross and the two wooden hearts.

This is a Carnival Glass set I recently bought.  There are SEVEN glasses.  The tray didn’t come with it, but I thought it looked like it should.

This is an old hankie box I got at an antique shop full of hankies which should be in the next picture.

I think there were something like 14 hankies in the box!  I love these.

These are from tiny kits my England xs friend Gill sent me.  The poinsettia goes in the top of a beautiful little “pot” and the others have tiny gold frames.  These were soooo much fun to xs.

These are from my fav thrift shop where I go very very frequently 🙂 I should work there LOL  These are onyx eggs and someone put “leaves” on some that resemble fruit. I would have preferred them to be left off myself.  These were all in a bag and very cheap!  There is a purple one missing because I gave it to my xs friend Sharon 🙂

This design is by Sampler Girl. I love everything she creates!  This is called Primitive Valentine Pin Cushion and I xs’ed it for Sharon as a surprise 🙂

This is Quaker Pumpkin by Cindy Mae Designs.  You have to check out her designs if you haven’t already.  She is one sweet lady!

I gave some “sampler” fabric to Sharon and asked her to work her magic!  She made me the most beautiful tote/purse with outside pocket that is so unique and inside pockets, too.  She made a small bag which is on the right side of the picture, but looks as big as the tote!  It’s not – it’s like a makeup bag size and is just adorable.  This will be great for toting my xs around or I may just use them as a purse.  Thanks, Sharon – I love it and you 🙂

This is an old sewing box and it’s in really great shape.  The inside has a ledge for spools and you can sort of see it in the picture.

Sharon made this teeny tiny little bitty stocking for me for Christmas and OMG it’s just amazing!!!  I love love love it!  She even xs’ed 2010 on it, my initials JP and hers SS and my fav motif – the stag.  How precious is this!!! 🙂

This was from my fav thrift shop, BUT…. my neighbor found it and bought it for me knowing I love RN (Rescued Needlework).  It was rolled up with a rubberband around it on a table with large pieces of scrap fabrics wrapped the same way!  This is the best part – she got it for FIFTY CENTS – yes, you read right FIFTY CENTS!!!!  I think it  came as a tapestry kit of a repro painting by Vermeer de brief who was a known painter in his day. His name is stamped on the back.  I will probably frame it or maybe have it made into a pillow.  It’s 17.5 x 13.5″!!!  It is xs’ed instead of needlepoint, but is just beautiful in person. 🙂 If anyone knows the title of this or anything else about it, please let me know. 🙂  NOTE NOTE NOTE::::::   Thanks to my daughter, Valerie, for finding the title of this piece and more info on it.  You can see it here, if you like: http://www.essentialvermeer.com/catalogue/girl_reading_a_letter_by_an_open_window.html

Vintage hankie I recently found at an antique shop.  I think that’s about it for today.  Thanks sooo much for looking thru my updates in no certain order 🙂
